I'm Katherine, chief baker and designer at Katie's Cakes (Scotland) where I specialise in creating elegant bespoke wedding cakes for your special day.
I have grown up admiring the stunning wedding cakes made by my very talented Aunt, however my cake journey started over 15 years ago when my gorgeous daughter started challenging me with her birthday cake requests.
Each year these requests have grown more elaborate, along with requests from family and friends. Their encouragement inspired me to improve my skills and develop my unique style and turn my hobby into a business.
My cake journey has lead me to the joy and buzz of weddings. I love nothing more than being immersed in all things pretty and seeing the happiness a beautiful wedding cake can bring. I take great pride in my work, and my style has evolved into simplistic elegance with a clean flawless finish, bursts of soft or bold colour and highlights of intricate detailing. I have also loved learning the art of sugar flowers, and my delicately handcrafted flowers provide the perfect accompaniment to any wedding cake.
A career in Architecture has given me an outlet for my creativity and artistic nature for many years BC (before cake!). It is however the source of my meticulous attention to detail and organisational skills! Away from work I enjoy nothing more than exploring East Lothian with my flat-coated retriever Blu - oh and with my family too!
